About the Hopewell Downtown Partnership
We’re a nonprofit working to revitalize Downtown Hopewell through small business support, public space improvements, and community-driven initiatives — all guided by the Virginia Main Street Four Point Approach.
Our History
Founded in 2007, the Hopewell Downtown Partnership began as a grassroots effort to bring life back to Hopewell’s historic Main Street. In 2011, we earned national accreditation through the Virginia Main Street program — a recognition of our commitment to long-term revitalization. Since then, we've worked hand-in-hand with the city, local businesses, and residents to support economic growth, preserve historic charm, and create a downtown that reflects the spirit and potential of the Hopewell community.

Our Framework for Downtown Revitalization
As a nationally accredited Virginia Main Street community, we follow the Four Point Approach — a framework that guides our work to strengthen Downtown Hopewell while honoring its history and potential.
Economic Vitality
We grow our local economy by supporting entrepreneurs, attracting investment, and helping downtown businesses succeed — from grants to new business recruitment.
Design
We enhance downtown’s appearance through historic preservation, public art, and improved streetscapes that make the area more welcoming and walkable.
Promotion
We tell the story of Downtown Hopewell. Through events, branding, and campaigns, we drive foot traffic and celebrate the people and places that make this district unique.
Organization
We connect the dots. By building strong partnerships between residents, businesses, and city leaders, we create momentum and keep revitalization efforts moving forward.
Built by Business Owners, Volunteers, and Neighbors
Our board is made up of volunteers who live, work, and invest in Hopewell. They’re small business owners, civic leaders, and residents — some new to downtown, others who’ve been part of this community for decades. From shaping strategy to showing up at events, they’re hands-on in every part of what we do.
