Volunteer Opportunities
The Main Street approach relies on community volunteers to help lead these initiatives. The following are specific ways you can get involved.

Join A Committee

Committee Descriptions
DESIGN COMMITTEE
Serve on a team that is dedicated to improving the appearance of downtown through the rehabilitation of historic buildings, encouraging supportive new construction, and beautifying the streetscape.
PROMOTIONS COMMITTEE
THIS COMMITTEE IS CURRENTLY FULL. Serve on a team that re-brands and markets the downtown to potential customers, investors, new businesses, citizens and visitors through promotional materials and special events.
ECONOMIC RESTRUCTURING COMMITTEE
Serve on a team that identifies, and strategically recruits new businesses to downtown while providing resources to existing businesses to help them expand or develop.
Time Commitment
The typical time commitment for a committee member is about 1 hour per month with additional hours as required by projects.
General Responsibilities
- Commits to at least one year of service
- Attends monthly committee and/or subcommittee meetings if appropriate
- Works 3 to 5 hours per month outside of committee meetings
- Attends all training sessions
- Reads selected orientation materials
- Learns about the Main Street™ Approach to downtown revitalization
- Recruits/orients new members
- Prepares in advance for meetings
- Participate in annual sessions to draft an annual workplan
- Takes responsibility for projects
- Always presents the organization positively to the public

THIS POSITION IS CURRENTLY FILLED. Serve on a team that re-brands and markets the downtown to potential customers, investors, new businesses, citizens and visitors through promotional materials and special events.
ECONOMIC RESTRUCTURING COMMITTEE
Serve on a team that identifies, and strategically recruits new businesses to downtown while providing resources to existing businesses to help them expand or develop.
Responsibilities
- Recruits committee members
- Works to coordinate committee projects with staff
- Organizes workplans and keeps the committee “on-track” with workplans
- Is a spokesperson on behalf of the committee to the board and vice versa
- Communicates the committee’s goals and progress to members and the public
- Runs meetings, facilitates group discussion, and forges consensus
- Manages “paperwork”, including minutes, workplans, evaluations, and records

- Has a genuine desire to lead the committee and make great things happen
- Has strong organizational skills
- Understands and teaches others about the Main Street™ Approach
- Enjoys managing people and projects and is a team player
- Enjoys learning and being challenged

Other Opportunities
[two_third_first]DOWNTOWN STREET TEAM VOLUNTEER
Help spread the word about downtown activities and events. Attend public events and interact with business owners to make sure individuals are well informed of Downtown revitalization efforts.
